VICTORY ADVENTURE EXPEDITIONS

SOUTH PATAGONIA

An 8 day expedition round trip out of Punta Arenas.

Individual legs: Punta Arenas – Ushuaia or Ushuaia – Punta Arenas

“Our voyage will take us through places of incomparable beauty, starting from the port of Punta Arenas, where we board our vessel.  During our expedition, we will navigate the Straits of Magellan, the channels and fiords zone; and then we will visit the Port of Ushuaia in Argentina and then the mythical Cape Horn.”

Day 1 :  Punta Arenas, Chile

Reception is aboard the "Antarctic Dream" during the morning, in Punta Arenas.  Check in is at 4:00 pm. Once on board you will be welcomed by the crew members and shown to your cabin.

We depart that evening and during the night we sail to the Kyats Fiords and then to the Martinez and Hyatt Fiords.

Day 2 :  The Darwin Mountain Range

Here we can marvel at the glorious glaciers that have been sculpted over thousands of years. After the safety briefings have been issued by our guides, we board the zodiacs and venture to the beach where we can appreciate the rich vegetation and birdlife. Once back on the vessel, one can enjoy the warm, informal atmosphere and service from our crew members while we continue sailing through the southern channels.

Day 3 :   Sailing through Fiords and Garibaldi Glacier

During the night and morning we sail through the Whaler`s Channel towards the Garibaldi Fiord. We board the zodiacs once again to do a crossing to visit a glacier. The Garibaldi Fiord is surrounded by high mountains and we make our way through a narrow channel until we arrive at the spectacular glacier which is situated in the Alberto D`Agostini National Park. Afterwards, we sail through the north-western branch of the Beagle Channel, known as "Glacier Avenue" where we will see glaciers such as Italia, Holanda, Alemania, Francia and Romanche among others. We then will continue sailing through the Beagle Channel towards Ushuaia

Day 4 :  Ushuaia

Today, we dock at Ushuaia, the southernmost port in Argentina and considered by many as the “nerve centre” of Tierra del Fuego Island. If you wish, you may go sightseeing and shopping and thereby appreciate a little of the daily life and business culture. Today those passengers who have chosen a 4-day expedition will leave us (9:00 am), and those who are taking the return voyage, from Ushuaia, will board the vessel. The check in in Ushuaia will be at 4:00pm and departure at 7:00 pm to cross The Beagle Channel.

Day 5 :  Cape Horn

After departing from Ushuaia, the Antarctic Dream will sail through the Beagle Channel crossing Nassau Bay until we stop at Calera Leon in Cape Horn, the southernmost spot on the continent. Depending on weather conditions, we will visit Cape Horn home to the National Park and the great Albatross Monument which honours all sailors who have died in this area. After this unique experience we head back towards the continent to Picton Island where we disembark and take a walk and see the beauty of the sub-Antarctic vegetation.

Day 6 :   North-western branch – Beagle Channel

Early morning we sail through the north-western branch of the Beagle Channel and, weather permitting, disembark on one of the fiords. We can find incredible glaciers which we can approach them from our zodiacs and our guides then take us to a nearby beach where we can disembark and admire the view. . From the zodiacs you behold the beauty and splendour of the surroundings and the peaks that constitute Darwin’s Mountain and the breathtaking view of the D`Aggostini National Park. During the afternoon we continue due west to sail through Brecknock Passage and head towards Fiord Keats.

Day 7 :   D’Agostini’s Glacier

We wake up at the admirable D’Agostini’s Fiord and approach the glacier aboard our zodiacs. Our guides take us to a nearby beach where one can admire the view and enjoy a delicious and typical barbecue. On our return and weather permitting, we will take a 10 minute helicopter flight over the Antarctic Dream, surrounded by the snowed peaks of the Darwin Mountain Range. You can enjoy unsurpassed aerial views of the D`Aggostini National Park.

Day 8 :   Punta Arenas, Chile

We dock early at Punta Arenas and after breakfast we disembark at 9:00 am from the "Antarctic Dream”.
